Platform Basics

Guided highlights and Discover

The short walkthrough that points at the real screen on your first visit, how to replay it, and where to find the parts of the platform you have not opened yet. Start by sign in, on your first visit to the dashboard overview the tour starts on its own.

What it does

The first time you land on your dashboard overview, a short guided tour points at the real navigation and names what lives where. It only ever opens on the overview itself, so it can never appear on top of a page you have just chosen to visit, and it never opens while the first-run setup panel or the Academy welcome is on screen. After that, the first time you open a major list, jobs, customers, invoicing, a single hint explains what that page is for, once, after the list has finished loading. Steps that point at something your plan or your sidebar layout does not include are dropped rather than shown pointing at nothing, so a shorter tour simply means fewer of them applied to you.

When to use it

It runs by itself for a new user. Come back to it whenever you want a refresher, or when someone new joins your team and you would rather show them than tell them.

Steps

  1. Sign in, on your first visit to the dashboard overview the tour starts on its own
  2. Read each step and press Next; press Skip at any point, or Escape, and it will not come back
  3. Use the left and right arrow keys to move between steps if you prefer the keyboard
  4. To see it again, open Discover: the graduation-cap icon in the top bar on a computer, then “Discover & replay tours”. On a phone the top bar has no such icon, use the menu, then Discover & replay tours
  5. Press Replay next to any tour to run it again from the beginning
  6. Below the tours, “Not explored yet” lists parts of the platform you have not opened, with a short walkthrough behind each one. Anything your plan does not include is marked with a padlock rather than hidden

Why it matters

New team members orient themselves without being walked around the platform by someone who already knows it, and features you have never opened stay visible instead of quietly going unused.
